區域介紹

sitting in the most northwesterly corner of greece, corfu is an elegant and cosmopolitan island, wearing the mantle of its colourful venetian history with style. corfu real estate is one of the most established in greece.

‘somewhere between calabria and corfu, the blue really begin s… you are aware of a change in the heart of things: aware of the horizon begin ning to stain at the rim of the world: aware of islands coming out of the darkness to meet you’. so begin s lawrence durrell’s 1945 ode to corfu, prospero’s cell. even today, visitors to the island often arrive by sea, approaching from italy in the west of the greek mainland in the east.

in the early morning sunlight, the pastel-hued houses overlook corfu town’s historic port. they create a charming medley of slender levels interconnected by narrow alleyways. laundry hangs from every balcony, resembling vibrant festive bunting swaying in the breeze.

towering venetian mansions, bearing ancient coats of colourful paint softened by countless winters, give town visitors the sensation of stepping into a watercolour masterpiece.

corfu has rightfully earned its reputation as greece’s music capital. the island boasts a multitude of music associations, orchestras, bands, and a musical tradition dating back 400 years to the venetian era of the island.

at the heart of the town lies a broad tree-lined promenade known as the spianada. elegant french arcades reminiscent of rue de rivoli echo through the air. an intriguing british influence can be discovered on this grand square. it transforms into a cricket pitch during the summer, a unique feature as it’s the only operational sports field within a unesco world heritage site.

meanwhile , the corfiot countryside showcases a mournful beauty unparalleled across greece. it contrasts starkly with the stark barrenness of the aegean. drenched in brilliant white sunlight during summer, the island undergoes a sublime transformation thanks to winter rains. this causes lush greenery to blanket the inland valleys, which are thickly carpeted with wildflowers and adorned with gnarled olive trees, while dense groves of swaying cypresses punctuate the landscape.

in the sophisticated northeast, known as “kensington-on-sea,” you’ll find the finest real estate in greece. the imposing summer villa of the rothschild family anchors it. here, the luxury villa lifestyle reigns supreme. hillside properties are secluded amidst the landscape, boasting private infinity pools and awe-inspiring sea views. the enigmatic epirote mountains, crowned in snow, loom mysteriously in the east.

positioned on a secluded hillside above the coastline, this contemporary villa faces uninterrupted views across the mediterranean, with the landscape unfolding from steep pine-covered slopes down toward the sea below. designed to sit quietly within its natural surroundings, the residence combines restrained architecture with a strong connection to light, openness and the horizon beyond.

low horizontal volumes, natural stone walls and shaded pergolas anchor the house into the terrain, while floor-to-ceiling sliding glass panels dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior living spaces. from nearly every part of the property, the eye is drawn outward — across the infinity edge of the pool, toward the changing blues of the water and the rugged coastal formations surrounding the bay.

the principal living and dining area is arranged as a double-height open-plan space, intentionally minimal in material and form. pale stone flooring, soft neutral surfaces and carefully framed openings allow the surrounding landscape to become the defining visual element of the interiors. during the afternoon, filtered light moves through the woven pergolas, cast ing shifting shadows across the terraces and indoor living spaces.

the main terrace extends directly from the living room, oriented southeast to capture both morning light and long coastal views throughout the day. the infinity pool runs parallel to the horizon line, creating a continuous visual connection with the sea beyond. several outdoor seating and dining areas are positioned around the terraces, some fully exposed to the panorama and others protected beneath covered outdoor structures that provide shade during the warmer hours.

the kitchen follows the same restrained architectural language, combining integrated appliances, clean-lined cabinetry and a central island that remains visually connected to both the interior gathering spaces and the landscape outside. large openings encourage natural airflow throughout the residence, allowing the sea breeze to move freely through the main living areas.

four bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms, are positioned privately within the house and oriented toward the sea. the rooms remain calm and understated, finished in soft tones and natural textures that reinforce the sense of quiet throughout the property. large openings frame the coastline from the bedrooms, while the changing light throughout the day softens the interiors rather than dominating them.

the surrounding setting remains intentionally natural, with olive trees, native planting and rocky terrain descending toward the water below. the architecture responds carefully to the steep hillside positioning, allowing the villa to preserve both privacy and uninterrupted sightlines while remaining sheltered within the landscape.

as evening approaches, the house changes character entirely. the terraces darken slowly, the pool begin s reflecting the final blue tones of the sky, and the coastline across the water appears gradually as scattered lights along the horizon. apart from the movement of the wind through the trees and the distant sound of the sea below, the setting becomes almost completely still.
