blas house, designed by architect alberto campo baeza, is located in sevilla la nueva, a municipality in the community of madrid. it is a single-family home conceived with a strong minimalist and rationalist influence, following the principles of clarity, order, and light characteristic of the architect.
the property is based on a pure rectangular volume, with a very geometric and clean distribution. campo baeza plays with light and shadow to emphasize spatiality and the purity of forms.
it is organized on two levels: a semi-basement floor for bedrooms and private areas, taking advantage of the thermal inertia of the ground, and an upper floor, a large glass box with a concrete structure, intended for common areas (living room, dining room, and kitchen), with views of the surrounding landscape. the upper floor floats above the lower one, generating a contrast between the solidity of concrete and the lightness of glass.
in its architecture, exposed concrete is used in the base and structure, while the upper part is resolved with glass, allowing total connection with the exterior. natural light is a key element, as it floods the interior spaces and reinforces the feeling of spaciousness and serenity.
it is designed to integrate into the landscape without alter ing the topography. the lower part, being semi-buried, blends in with the terrain, while the upper part appears to rise above it.
