Historic 18th Century Farmhouse - Maia
Historic 18th-century farmhouse in Águas Santas, Maia, with a 600 m² manor house, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a Baroque chapel, gardens, and a former priest′s house now converted into a two-bedroom house, just a few minutes from Porto. It has four rooms: a dining room, a living room, a music room, and a library, as was customary at the time.
This is a unique farmhouse over 300 years old, built in 1719, with a stately design and a U-shaped layout, set in an area of 5390 m². It is a property of heritage interest that combines the charm of the period with the current potential for private housing, event space, or rural tourism. It is fully walled and has unique, well-maintained gardens, with original features such as exposed stone, tiles, solid wood flooring, and high ceilings. On the ground floor, there is a laundry room and an AL area with access to two bedrooms, a living room, and a bathroom.
The reconstruction of the house by the current owner, about 44 years ago, transformed it into a unique space that takes us back in history. Care was taken to preserve the historical and typical features of the period, not only of the building but also of the well-kept historical gardens, with century-old trees and one of the oldest boxwood gardens in the country.
The manor′s private Baroque chapel, measuring approximately 60 m², features an imposing 18th-century gilded Baroque altar dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy. The life-size wooden statue occupying the central niche of the altar is attributed to Frei Cipriano da Cruz, a famous 17th-century Benedictine sculptor, who created several identical statues scattered throughout northern Portugal. Meticulously preserved, the chapel is still used today for weddings.
Currently, this magnificent farm serves as a main residence and a space for local accommodation and events, with a covered tent that can accommodate up to 220 people, supported by an annex with a reception room, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and ample parking.
It is located in an area with good road access, just a few kilometers from the center of Maia and Porto, as well as Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport.
