Iconic contemporary villa in Pisa
just a few steps from the medieval walls and piazza dei miracoli, in the prestigious residential area of porta a lucca, stands a unique villa designed in 1973 by the internationally renowned architect gae aulenti. it is her only work realized in pisa, published as an example of a new architectural language.
the project is characterized by eight parallel walls that define and connect interior and exterior spaces, almost like a theatrical stage set. immersed in a large private garden of about 2,500 sqm, the property extends over 400 sqm distributed across 18 rooms, offering a modern vision of living.
the passages between the walls, the alter nation between closed and open spaces, and the large glass surfaces create evocative plays of transparency and a continuous dialogue between inside and outside, enhancing the brightness and depth of the interiors. natural materials such as terracotta, stone and wood, together with the greenery that seems to enter the house, create a harmonious relationship with nature.
the family spaces revolve around an internal garden, creating a private atmosphere while remaining within an urban context. the layout ensures independence between the different areas: a large living area with relaxation space, tv and fireplace, a separate kitchen, and a quiet sleeping area. natural light is the true protagonist, with zenithal glazing, double-height spaces and continuous views of the garden.
the villa fully preserves the original design, with spaces, materials and custom-made furnishings still perfectly consistent with the author′s vision.
