set amid 340 acres in greenwood, virginia, whilton is an exceptional country estate distinguished by its remarkable gardens, expansive grounds and collection of beautifully situated residences and outbuildings.
at the heart of the property stands a stately brick georgian residence dating to 1900. offering 6,777 square feet with six bedrooms, four full baths and one half bath, the residence is surrounded by nearly 20 acres of impeccably maintained gardens, where mature plantings, formal and informal garden rooms, broad lawns and established trees create an extraordinary setting around the house and throughout the estate.
whilton is particularly well suited for entertaining and accommodating family and guests. a two-bedroom guest house and separate two-bedroom pool house provide substantial additional living space, while the pool and clay tennis court create a private recreational setting within the grounds. two private offices flank the greenhouse, offering an unusually attractive and practical environment for working from the property.
the estate’s equestrian facilities are equally compelling. a handsome brick stable overlooks multiple paddocks and complements the property’s extensive open acreage, while the surrounding landscape provides the privacy and scale expected of a significant virginia country property.
despite its sense of seclusion, whilton is exceptionally accessible. crozet is approximately five minutes away for everyday conveniences, dining and the amenities of western albemarle county, while charlottesville and the university of virginia can be reached in approximately 20 minutes.
rarely does an estate of this scale combine significant acreage, extraordinary gardens, extensive guest accommodations, equestrian and recreational amenities, and such convenient access to charlottesville. whilton offers a complete virginia country estate within one of albemarle county’s most desirable settings.
