The city of Herriman borders the mountains to the southwest of the Salt Lake Valley. The nearby Bingham Canyon Mine is a sight to see. It is the largest man-made excavation site in the world, yielding copper, silver, and gold, as well as many other elements. The J.L. Sorenson Recreation Center is also a high point, featuring a climbing wall, track, sports courts, and a pool with a high dive, ropes course, slide, and lazy river. This rapidly growing bedroom community is a popular destination for families and homeowners who want to live in the suburbs. Hiking, biking and other outdoor activities are favored by residents here. This location is projected to boom in the next few years as Utah Gov. Gary Herbert wants to establish a “tech corridor” here to attract high-tech companies and startups to Utah. If you’re looking for the next Silicon Valley, this is it. Inc. magazine says the amount of venture capital money raised in this area is second to none. Forbes magazine has ranked Utah the No. 1 state for business four out of the last five years. Salt Lake County is the home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz, Real Salt Lake of the MLS, University of Utah Pac-12 athletics and was the host of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
