consider this your invitation to a different kind of life.
set high in the sierra, the juniper cabin is an exceptional forest service cabin overlooking caples lake, with sweeping 360-degree views of the surrounding forest and kirkwood resort. french doors open onto the deck and front porch, creating an effortless connection between the cabin and the landscape beyond.
there is something beautifully uncomplicated about life here. power comes from a generator. a thoughtfully situated composting outhouse serves the cabin. beyond that, the essentials are simple: mountains, water, fresh air, and time. this is off-grid living at its most rewarding, where the landscape becomes the amenity.
from the cabin, the high sierra unfolds in every direction. spend summer days fishing and recreating on caples lake, or venture into the surrounding wilderness to discover some of the region′s most spectacular wildflowers, including the trails toward lake winnemucca and schneider cow camp. enjoy dinner at caples lake resort or sorensen′s, take to the road on the same legendary routes as the death ride, or simply return to the porch with a book and nowhere else to be.
because sometimes the greatest luxury is space. space to wander. space to be still. space to notice what is right in front of you.
the juniper cabin offers a rare opportunity to step away from the ordinary and into a life shaped by the seasons, the mountains, and the extraordinary beauty of the high sierra.
