Historic Villa near Bologna
Built at the end of the fifteenth century as a Renaissance palazzo, Villa Somaglia presents a symmetrical architectural layout, developed over three levels.
The decorative elements, the sequence of spaces and the articulation of the building convey the character of a grand historic residence, still clearly legible in its structure and in its relationship with the surrounding space.
Surrounding the villa are more than fifty thousand square meters of private parkland, marked by the presence of centuries-old trees and vegetation that envelops the building, completely isolating it from the urban context.
The park is not merely a setting, but constitutes an essential part of the identity of the complex; its extent takes on particular significance precisely in relation to the villa′s position within the built-up fabric of Sasso Marconi: although located within the town, Villa Somaglia retains a secluded and intimate character, becoming entirely absorbed by the greenery.
Furthermore, the Villa is well-connected to the major routes and located just 20 km from the city center of Bologna.
