welcome to cider hollow, where autumn seems to linger a little longer, the scent of apples fills the crisp country air, and life moves at a gentler pace. set among over 50 acres of rolling meadows, wooded trails, apple trees, and blueberry bushes, a circa 1763 post-and-beam barn has been lovingly reimagined into a home as enchanting as its surroundings. wander the trails and discover quiet places to sit awhile , gather fruit in season, or retreat to the potting shed overlooking the spring-fed pond, where the only thing on your agenda might be watching the seasons change.
inside, centuries-old character meets the comforts of home. sunlight dances across hardwood floors beneath soaring ceilings and exposed timber beams, while a magnificent circular brick chimney rises through the heart of the home. imagine chilly evenings beside the fireplace, the warmth of the waterford woodstove, or slow sunday mornings with coffee as sunlight pours through the dining room windows. the country kitchen, with its custom pine cabinetry, feels right at home here. a first-floor office or bedroom and an updated bathroom with a charming clawfoot tub offer flexibility, while upstairs, two bedrooms include a skylit primary suite with a walk-in closet. an open mezzanine with another fireplace offers the perfect place to curl up with a good book. historic charm has been thoughtfully preserved alongside improvements, including a new chimney in 2020, and new windows in 2024.
and just when you think you′ve discovered all this property has to offer, there′s more. a separate building holds a library with walls wrapped in bookshelves and a half bath, with a sun-drenched, open-concept studio apartment above, offering a welcoming space for family, guests, or potential rental income. another outbuilding provides garage space for a vehicle and recreational toys, with a loft above offering storage or possibilities for a creative retreat.
beyond the property, the charming vermont villages of manchester, dorset, and arlington invite afternoons of exploring, while winter adventures await at willard mountain, approximately 30 minutes away, or the slopes of bromley and stratton. yet the best part may be returning home, where the pond rests quietly, the trees turn brilliant shades of amber and gold, and a warm fire is waiting. at cider hollow, every season has a story to tell. perhaps the next one will be yours.
