In the 1950s, Parioli completed urbanization, and today, Parioli is known as the most elegant residential area in Rome and attracts many foreign embassies to locate. Parioli is not only located by the Tiber River, but also consists of a number of parks. At the outskirt of the area is the National Museum of 21st-century Arts, which adds to the relaxed and temperament of the area. The Colosseum was originally used to perform gladiator competitions, sea battle performances, executions, reenactments of important battles, and plays of Roman mythology. However, it was no longer used for entertainment purposes in the early Middle Ages, but as a residence, workshop, clergy house, fortifications, quarries, and Christian sacred site. With nearly 2,000 years of history, though the Colosseum was partially damaged by earthquakes and the destruction of the stone thieves, it is still the most famous building in Rome and a must-see for visitors to Rome. The Colosseum is not only one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages, but also among the new Seven Wonders of the World.     特萊維噴泉 特萊維噴泉又名「幸福噴泉」，是羅馬最著名且最大的巴洛克風格噴泉。特萊維噴泉原位於古羅馬時代負責運送飲用水管線的終點，但戰爭時期水道遭到破壞，影響附近居民的生活。而文藝復興時，古羅馬的建築風格復興，因此於水道匯集處建造宏偉且華麗的噴泉，象徵興盛以及重獲水源的喜悅。傳說若來訪的旅人在噴泉中投擲一枚硬幣，那他將會再次回到羅馬，而許願的方式也十分獨特，需背對許願池，拿著硬幣在胸前畫個十字並且親吻硬幣，最後從左肩往噴泉中投擲硬幣，才算是完成。據說因造訪的旅客甚多，因此每日約有三千歐元的硬幣投擲於此，而政府也會將此收入用於救助城市中的貧困者。   Trevi Fountain The Trevi Fountain, also known as the “Fountain of Love”, is Rome's most famous and largest Baroque fountain. The Trevi Fountain was originally located at the end of the pipeline used to transport drinking water during the Roman era, but the waterway was destroyed during the war, affecting the lives of nearby residents. During the Renaissance, the architectural style of Ancient Rome was revived, so a magnificent fountain was built at the end of the waterway to symbolize the prosperity and the joy of regaining water. Legend has it that if a visiting traveler throws a coin in the fountain, he will return to Rome again. The way of making a wish at the Trevi Fountain is also very unique; with one’s back turned from the fountain, he will draw a cross on the chest while holding the coin and then kisses the coin, and finally throwing it from the left shoulder to the fountain.
